POPULAR RESORTS
Benalmadena
The original settlement on the mountainside, which still maintains
typical Andalusian-style alleyways and whitewashed houses. On the
coastline, Benalmadena Costa has become one of the most popular areas
on the Costa del Sol for recreation and entertainment with many attractive
sandy beaches and a sports harbour awarded for best International
Marine Port.
Estepona
Estepona is a fishing village which has managed to preserve a peaceful
town atmosphere and in places still provides a good example of a traditional
Andalucian white village. The beaches of Estepona includes Costa Natura,
the nudist beach, the small and quiet coves of Playa Cristo and the
expansive beach called La Rada, which is constantly being awarded
for clean waters.
Fuengirola
Thanks to its privileged position, Fuengirola is commonly known as
the 'Heart of the Costa del Sol'. And what a healthy heart it is.
True to Andalusian tradition, Fuengirola is a place of easy living;
relax on tree lined promenade or along the long beautiful beach. When
evening comes, feast on gourmet delights in one the many restaurants
that line the streets before the atmosphere heats up for a typical
night of enjoyment and fun.
Malaga
Malaga city has an attractive personality, consisting of the most
refined essences of Mediterranean tradition with some of the best
fish and seafood cafes in the province. In this fun-loving metropolis
you can taste the authentic Spanish life, city style.
Marbella
The choice of the rich and famous, Marbella is one of the most colourful
and cosmopolitan resorts of the Costa del Sol. With 28km of sandy
beaches and a glittering yacht marina, it has a vast commercial centre
and an Andalucian town centre with attractive whitewashed houses and
tree-lined squares. Southern Spain's answer to St Tropez, it is an
ideal choice for those seeking a high standard of accommodation in
a stylish resort.
Mijas
Mijas enjoys that irresistible combination of sun, sand and sea sports.
Each awarded the Blue Flag, the beaches at La Cala are among the best
in the province and an action-lovers heaven: jet skiing, water skiing,
parasending and more are on offer. Be sure to experience the chiringuito
(small open-air bars or beach restaurants) called charm here too,
where you can sample a variety of Spanish seafood eaten with a favourite
holiday drink tinto verano - red wine topped up with lemonade.
Puerto Banus
Just west of Marbella, Puerto Banus is synonymous with wealth, fashion,
glamorous and parties - the high life and nightlife. Characterised
by rows of glistening luxury yachts, the port boasts a casino, commercial
shopping centre, department stores, marine observatory and a multi-screen
cinema. With its impressive mountain backdrop and open ocean views
the setting is near perfect.
Rincon de la Victoria
Rincón de la Victoria was a fishing town up to twenty years
ago, but at only 12 kilometres from Malaga, it has now become an important
centre of both residential and seasonal tourism. With 3 km. of fine
sand beaches bathed by the warm and clear waters of the Mediterranean,
Rincón de la Victoria nowadays offers the tourist all means
necessary to enjoy a good holiday.
Torremolinos
Torremolinos is the biggest of the Costa del Sol resorts and probably
its most famous. The 9km of beach are more often than not packed with
groups of all nationalities making the most of the sun. Night and
day, Torremolinos is about having fun, fun and more fun, making it
a popular resort with groups and young couples.
